There are many different factors involved when trying to determine weight gain. An increase in body weight can also be attributed to an increase in muscle mass, but this type of increase in body weight is rarely surprising, and is usually the result of weight training or other types of regular workouts.

A previous history of severe weight loss can affect “weight cycling”. Weight cycling is the ability and likelihood of large amounts of weight either gained or lost, and this makes a person more apt to gain weight quickly. Another high risk factor for becoming overweight can include times just after pregnancy, as well as during menopause. During his life stages, weight gain can be common due to hormonal differences, but that does not mean that weight gain is inevitable. Additional high risk factors include stress, medical conditions, or even the holiday season. Each of these factors represents a time in which you are most vulnerable to gain weight, and the time in which instituting a weight management plan or healthy eating plan can benefit you do most.

Different people are affected different ways in regards to weight management. The most important thing is to try to maintain a weight management plan that you see as achievable, and is something you can comfortably maintain. Many different influences will affect your day-to-day eating habits, but through a healthy lifestyle, you can develop and keep a weight that you are comfortable with the rest of your life.
