Snacks play a large role in children’s diets do specifically to their high metabolism, and growing bodies. It is very important that the snacks are as healthy as possible, and remain available to help support lifelong healthy eating habits. Fruits represent one of the most convenient and healthy snacks available for children of the elementary age. Fruits are naturally sweet so the majority of kids enjoy them. Fruit can be served whole, sliced, cubed, wedged, canned, frozen, dried, and rarely requires much preparation.
Applesauce represents, when unsweetened, a very convenient and healthy snack for children. Apple says it has a very long shelf life and a very low cost, and if canned in a light syrup or juice can provide a very healthy snack.
It is often very important for parents to provide their children with healthy snacks, that is why it is so important that a snack is not only healthy, readily available, but also convenient. Another such snack, which is also in the fruit group, is dried fruits, such as raisins, apples, and any other dried fruit that has been prepared with little or no added sugar. These dried fruits are often very inexpensive, and easy to pack away in a backpack or book bag.
Frozen fruits, while not as convenient for school time snacks, represent the healthiest possible desert. Often frozen fruits such as frozen grapes, blueberries, strawberries, or bananas can substitute any other desert. Frozen fruit provides the unique sweet taste that is associated with desert, without contributing to an unhealthy addition of calories are cholesterol.
An additional simple snack, that is also very healthy and convenient, is vegetables served raw with a light dip or salad dressing. Broccoli, carrot sticks or celery sticks can be very quick inexpensive snacks they can easily be taken to school. Raw vegetables provide a large amount of the needed vitamins, for a growing body and tell to instill a healthy diet.

Obesity in children has been an increasing problem of the past several years. During this time and addition to educational efforts put forth by both schools and parents as well as school mandated diets were put in place. Neither of these efforts seemed to make a substantial difference in the problem. It is not until recently, that children are beginning to rely on the same obesity treatments that adults have been known to use. These treatments include the use of weight control drugs as well as weight control through surgery. Similar to adults there is no quick and easy method for children to lose weight, although it is rarely a healthy decision to put a child to surgery due to weight issue.
It is important; first to try methods of education not only at school but at home. Parents can play a vital role in helping the child to understand what healthy food is and why they see it. Through the use of simple dieting methods such as calorie counting, and monitoring nutritional and vitamin intake, many times child obesity can be taken care of.
Often children who suffer from obesity problems, that are not directly related to some type of physical condition, these children have little or no discipline a home regarding eating habits. By applying strict discipline regarding eating habits, as well is only allowing specific foods in the house, it is possible to help your child lose as much as 15 pounds in just a few short months.
