South Beach Diet Review
No matter where I go, I hear about South Beach Diet all the time. Every health magazine that I look at, there is always something about it, and when I go to a supermarket, I see South Beach Diet meals. I was curious one day so I decided to do a bit of research on this.
South Beach Diet is one of the top most talked about weight loss diet in the United States. Some people have made ridiculous claims, such as losing 14 pounds in just two weeks.
Here is what I found throughout my research:
- South Beach Diet was created by a doctor named Dr. Agatston. He is one of the best American cardiologists. Originally, he created a diet plan solely for his heart patients.
- The diet plan is not about low fat or low carb, but the healthy type of fat and carb.
- There are three phases to follow in this diet plan, and I will mention them in a bit.
- This diet plan teaches you to get into the habit of eating healthy food easily.
Let’s talk about the three phases to South Beach Diet:
- The first phase is the beginning phase when you are suppose to give up all sweets and refined starches. That means no candy, white bread, pasta, etc. You will replace those with fiber-rich and high in protein food, such as fish, tofu, and vegetables. You can also snack every now and then on foods such as mixed nuts. Most people claim that they lost the most weight during this first phase.
- The second phase is when your weight loss starts to slow down, but continues to lose weight gradually. This is a very long phase, and this is usually the phase that people who has 10 pounds or less fat to lose. Unlike phase 1, you are allowed to eat carbohydrates, but only healthy ones such as whole-wheat bread as opposed to white bread. Every now and then, you get to snack on sweets. For me, it was almost impossible to not treat myself to a chocolate cake once a week. South Beach Diet has plenty of recipes for you to cook for healthy, delicious meals.
- The final phase is to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle. It is the phase to make sure that you are doing everything okay, and that you stay on track so you do not lose focus and regain all your weight back.
I have been on this diet for over two years, and I consider it an accomplishment to be able to stick with the diet for so long.
It is very simple to follow and I also love the food recipes that South Beach Diet has to offer.
