The Diet Plan that Cures Seizures
The Diet Plan that Cures Seizures
In 1993, film producer Jim Abrahams developed a diet for his son who is suffering from epilepsy. That discovery led to a significant milestone in the medical industry and a formation of a foundation under the name of his son, the Charlie Foundation, to better inform other people with the wonders the diet can do to patients under the same condition.
They named the diet the Ketogenic Diet plan because of its capacity to increase the number of ketones in the body that ultimately leads to the prevention of seizure incidents. The perfect candidates for this diet plan are patients who experience seizures that are intractable and whose bodies could not handle the effects of medications and surgery. Today, the Epilepsy and Brain Mapping Program claims that 51% of their patients had significant improvements in their seizure cases. Most are now 90% better and some are even free of seizure.
The Ketogenic Diet plan is a carefully calculated diet plan that requires a patient to eat foods that are high in fat and low in protein and carbohydrates. That diet results to the large production of ketones in the body that are tested by examining the patient’s urine. This product has been known to control the frequency of seizures and also reduce its severity. This diet is being used widely in Mayo Clinic and medical schools of John Hopkins University and results are always positive. In 1992, John Hopkins published a report that confirms the Ketogenic Diet plan’s efficiency in preventing seizures.
