If you are just about to start Atkins, know that there are four stages, the induction phase, the ongoing weight loss phase, the pre maintenance phase and the lifetime maintenance phase. If you surf the web, you will see countless blogs giving you sample diet meal plans on each phase.

For the induction phase, this is where you place your body on a shock mode and lower your carbohydrate intake drastically. Drastically means that you should not take in more than 20 grams of carbs a day.

There are also countless websites that will give you sample diet meal plans on the induction phase and here is one of them.

For breakfast, you have to say no to cereals, breads and pancakes. You would have to make do with two pieces of bacon (turkey bacon if you like that sort of thing), hard boiled egg and half a slice of avocado.

For snacks, you can have a can of tuna dashed with lemon juice.

For lunch, have grilled or broiled chicken and a green salad.

For dinner, have 2 grilled hamburgers with cheese (no bun again) and a green salad.

If you have no idea what to put on your salad, Just toss in lettuce, spinach, purple onions, goat cheese and balsamic vinegar or blue cheese dressing to taste.
